Deaf child with special needs

My nick name is chilly gurlz cuz I get cold very easy. I also noticed if I took my hearing aid off, I sign better, when I use my hearing aid, my signs are not as clear.
Today topic is A deaf child with special needs like uses a wheel chair or blind, or needs extra help with learning, or mentally challenged. They often times don’t have a lot of friends because, the people who don’t have the special needs won’t take the time to learn about that person who has the special needs.
It nice when someone would take the time to try be friends with someone who is mentally challenged. I did just that at Iowa school for the deaf. This girl’s name is Jaime Hall, She is deaf and mentally challenged, she was in special need classes where she mostly learns life skills and things like that. She also had problems with motor skills and her hands were not working quite right. She did not have any friends because she could not sign too well, she does hit sometimes, also kids did not want to take a time with a mentally challenged kid. I did take the time to be her friend and help her, each day after school, I would do a therapy to help her with her hands and her motor skills. Also I would try keep her company and I would invite her to my house once a while and I also went to her house couple of times on the weekends. I did have other friends too. In some ways, even Jaime was mentally challenged, she knew how to hook up vcrs, tvs and things that needs to be hooked up, she was quite good with that. Sure I had some hard times with her but I was being patient. She sometimes did hit me but I understand that she does not really understand that it not ok to hit people. So I just tell her “no hit not nice”. I always think it such a nice treat for someone special like Jaime to have a friend like me. When I was a little kid, I always liked kids who were in wheel chair with cerebral palsy, I would go to them and say hi and try talk to them, they kinda reminded me of babies. In general I like people who have special needs. I like to help them and try be their friend. I do have some special needs myself, like my noonans syndrome, I also have problems with my short term memory and my brain process information slowly, which is why I do not drive.

Your character is very humble in giving your time to be with children or other people with special needs that others don’t. You have a very unique gift and the ability to be patient and tolerate those with more extreme special needs. You are very intelligent despite your shortcomings from noonans syndrome, and your character makes up a lot for whatever could be lacking. I really appreciate your openness of heart and willingness to be a friend of Jamie’s. I know it is not easy, but you have your reward coming one day for having a character of high integrity.
