Can you spot an deaf person in a crowd?

About sign language, what is the differences between, PSE, SEE, ASL? Which is easier? To me, ASL is easier but sometimes I find it hard to know which words I can leave out while using ASL. Why are there different types of sign languages? Why not combine all the signs so it just ASL by it self? I love to sign, its soo beautiful…
How about some of those hearing people who pretend to be deaf, are they a disgrace? I would think they are a disgrace if they pretend to be deaf because it makes us deaf people look bad and it also shows that the “faker” has no respect for themself. I always wonder why do some people like to pretend to be deaf???
I just did an poll question on yahoo answers, asking ppl a question, I asked, which would they rather be, deaf or blind? Of course most of 20 people choose deaf!!! Alright here are some of good answers I got from people from yahoo answers site,
i’d choose deaf. i would miss seeing things. i love sights, colors, seeing someone smile, cloud watching, etc. besides i’m an artist, so losing my sight would pretty much lose a lot of my talent because i wouldn’t be able to see what it was that i’m doing. also, i live with noisey lil boys, to not hear them and get headaches would be a plus.
Deaf would be ok since you can still have a drivers license and be deaf… you can’t be blind and still drive…oh wait, yes you can - in Florida! You can be legally blind and still get a driver’s license!!!
deaf for sure
because: If i couldn’t see then I’d never be able to see color, peoples faces, etc…
being deaf would be much less limiting.
Probably deaf.. because then you can read lips, etc.
I might die without music though….
so when you put on your hearing aid you can hear fine?I’m guessing your just have bad hearing, not actually complete deafness .
I would rather be blind b/c I can’t live w/o music and sounds. I can imagine what things look like. I have a great imagination.
well thats not good reasoning.
because the choice should be completely blind or completely deaf.
i would choose to be blind, because i would hate the fact that i would never hear music again.which is a very powerful thing.
Blind. I need my ears to compose my music!
deaf, because i think sign language (which i’m fluent in) is a lot easier to learn than braille.
I would rather be deaf because I love looking at things, especially pretty people.
deaf because I want to see my son, but I sure will miss hearing music

Helen Kellery who was both deaf and blind, felt deafness was worse because she could not communicate with people. I think deafness as a child is worst but blindness as an adult. This is because as a child you’re still learning language, speech, reading, writing etc. If you don’t learn it then it’s almost impossible to learn after 8 years of age because the vocal cords atrophy and the brain allocates the resources for hearing to other senses. If you can hear, then at least you can communicate with others even if you’re blind. But, I’d hate to be either (I am a totally deaf adult with a cochlear implant)
