Hello all…  Here is a story about, this deaf girl who adopted a big sister who signs, as a part of big brother, big sister, little brother and little sister program from YMCA.  here the link about the program,  http://www.hbbbs.org/site/c.nkI2KfMUIvF/b.3512991/

First, i have noticed something this morning, i was not wearing my hearing aid at first so it was all quiet and peaceful.  well as i put on my hearing aid, i heard the birds singing outside, as my door is open to let fresh air in.  so that what alot of us who are deaf miss out, is hearing those birds sing in morning.  that alright, it can get annoying after awhile.  I don’t mind missing out noises like those birds or anything. 

OK back to the subject,  long ago  my mom signed me up to get a “big sister”, at age about 8, but cuz i am deaf, it was made sure that i would get a signing big sister.  My mom wanted me to have a role model.  I went to meetings and had a interview to match me with a sister and waited for a sister.  After while, finally found an match for me, her name is Maria.  She is a nice, wonderful lady and knows sign.  You will also see the 3 pictures posted on my page too.    I was excited about meeting Maria and of course i was shy at first but i liked her right way.  It was in 1992 when i met Maria.  Maria was about 28, i was about 8 or 9.  When we met, we connected and bonded as sisters and i look up to her as my role model and hero.  we always had fun together, we hang out at each other houses, went to the zoo, chuckie cheese, parks, mall, and other fun things together.  Maria had one German Shepard dog and couple of ferrets, they were very cool pets.  It’s wonderful to have her as my “sister” cuz she knows sign, she is nice, sweet, outgoing, smiles alot, happy eyes.  Traditionally, we always went to a pet store near the mall to see the puppies and actually get to pet puppies then when we were done, we went to the ice cream store near by pet store to get ice cream then we walk to a park near by and have fun.  sometimes Maria kinda spoiled me with buying me few little things and doing other things.     I really enjoyed being around Maria, She is the perfect role model for me and she is my hero too.   Maria is also generous, thoughtful, sweet, happy, likes to laugh, person i know of.  

 Well u know what happened when i was about 11 years old?  Maria disappeared out of my life,  I was shocked, sad and kinda depressed about it, i would ask my mom, where is Maria?  so i would search for her in phone book and on Internet for a long time.  I thought maybe i did something wrong.  But at same time i knew that was not true.  But i would never let the memory of Maria go, I was stubborn cuz I love her as a sister.   

Well after 12 years of searching, I never forgotten about Maria at all.  As i was searching on Myspace (  www.myspace.com )  I finally found her profile, so i send her a message asking if it was her the same person.  she replied back to me, saying “Yes it’s me”,  I was very  thrilled to have finally found her.  so we added eachother profile to our friend list.  so we kept in touch and e-mailed each other and chatted and caught up with things.   After a year of us e-mailing each other,  my friend Robert was planning to go to San Diego to visit family and friends, so i went along with him.  we went to San Diego last Sept 2007 for 2 weeks.  Maria lived near San Diego so i thought, oh perfect, me and Maria could meet again one day in person, finally.  so me and Maria made arrangements to meet somewhere.  The day we suppose to meet, i got on train ride to get to part of San Diego to meet Maria, she had to drive an hour and half from where she lives to meet me in one of places in San Diego near the beach.  How i felt when i saw her finally,  I felt soo thrilled, my smiles were soo big that it hurts.  I was just soo happy.  she was very happy too, we hugged.  First thing we drove to the beach and went down to see ocean and sit for while and chatted for a while and catch up with each other.  She told me, reason why she disappeared, cuz she was going through some hard times with her life, she was kinda depressed, she was afraid she would not be a good role model for me so she quietly left.   I understood and move on to something else.   so we chatted more and had fun, she remembered signs pretty good and went for a  walk and drove around, she showed me area where surfers are normally.   When i met her again, i felt like i was a kid again with her, Maria also said she felt like she was a kid again too.  She showed me around town and some of her old house and a cool twin ship house in middle of neighborhood of normal houses, odd.  here the link to the pics i saw of the ship house in California,  http://www.city-data.com/picfilesv/picv6215.php  

then we went to eat at a Mexican restaurant, it was a good restaurant…  then we went for a walk in city, looked at different shops then we went back down to the beach and watched the water and chatted more and had good time together.  then we went to get some ice cream like the old times.  then we went look at more stores before i had to go back to my friend Robert.  end of the day before we had to go our separate ways is not always happy time.   so when we got to the train station, we hugged and talked and we do plan to meet in person again one day.  we had pictures taken of us.   we will always keep in touch with each other.  that day was a very happy day for me and very well remembered.  when i got on train i had little tears coming down as i was leaving her.    it was a wonderful day with Maria and i enjoy it very much.  Maria is also a rock singer with her band for the heart tribute locally.  She loves music very much.  Here is her music band website,  http://www.hearttribute.com/    thanks for watching my vlog…
