I’m sorry I guess I should have looked here to introduce myself, I’m Roberto and i’m from New Haven, CT. I am 26, h-o-h, and being h-o-h with hearing aids - hearing ppl still act weird around me too like ppl use to always ask me if i was deaf because I had hearing aids on and i’m like “umm.. no.” Yeah growing up was tough but I’ve learned to accept who I am and what I can offer the world.
I love movies, music, I play guitar, I write poetry, I love studying languages and currently I am studying ASL and I love it. You seem pretty cool and I hope you accept me as a friend. i’m on myspace. http://www.myspace.com/poetlife

I was going to send you an email originally but as I cannot find any “contact me” button this will have to do, forgive me for this massive comment.
I am no deaf and have never been around a deaf person (at parties and so on) long enough to have a conversation. However as I am a man I have found myself thinking “If I see a girl that I like, and realise she is deaf, would this stop me from getting to know her, potentialy learning sign language etc”, I doubt it would stop me, but I can see how someone else would be stunned by it and pushed away; and so to my question: You mention you are seeing someone and have been dating in the past, have you always been with deaf men? Do you know of mixed deaf/hearing couples? And also, would it put you off seeing/dating someone who is not deaf? What are deaf people’s view on this, surely it must happen sometimes unless deaf people avoid speaking to others.
Also, do you know if Sign language in France (where I am from) would somehow differ to the US sign language?
So many questions I know, but it has been bugging me for a while now and Wikipedia is no help
